I didnt drown at sea

No i didnt, nor did i get bitten by a shark or anything of the like. The past week has been crazy for me. There were so many things i need to get done yet everyday it seems like i'm carrying forward more unfinished business. I need more hours in a day!

Oh guess what! Remember my regretful lavender purchase in Perth last month? Remember how bummed i was when i saw my pitiful and expensive FAKE lavender when sat next to lovely FRESH lavenders. Hah, i have to eat my words now. Last week, i took some time out to finally arrange them, and when i picked up the then-fresh-lavenders-which-is-now-limpy-and-fugly, i pat myself for making the best decision ever, i.e. to have bought 'em fake lavenders. They look anything but fake now. lol Cant tell the boys that i toss their lavenders far far away.

Babies.. lots of babies.. got to spend some time with my cheeky godson, Lucas. He's going to save the world with his love for anything with a keyboard now. I found out that he has a thing for fans. He'd stare at any sort of fan; ceiling fan, standing fan, kitchen fan with freakish concentration and would bend at all angles to get a good look. He's starting to mumble or say his first words now and you'll never guess. "Dawg"
"hey babyyyy, whatchu doing there?"
"Dawggg...."
"You like keyboards, dont you hah.."
"dawwwgg... dawwgg... *bang on keyboard* *more banging* (yeahh, kill my laptop baby so i can get a new one!) dawwgg.."

.I love you to pieces.

.Gorgeous babies: My niece Emilka @ 1 mth, Komoko and niece Xuanxuan.

I think i have played with enough babies to last me a few months.

Then it was intense, brain wrecking, flower-glue-scissor-fighting scrapping bootcamp! It took 4 of us 4 serious, creative-juices-blending hours to complete our scrappage for Jenny's bday album.

.Very impressive for 3 other newbies.

And many thanks to Jessie for practically truckloading her workstation over for us to dig through, without which it would have just been pictures stuck on plaincoloured papers.

.Happy Birthday to Jenny and HoonHoon.

Because black and white is cool

I suck at babysitting

Lucas.
My godson is growing by the minute. Everytime i see him, he's grown somemore. Eventhough i kept telling the mumma how much i anticipate the day he starts walking and talking, a part of me shudders at the thoughts of endless "WHY" questions. *shudders*

Someone once asked me what do i know about being a godmother. He said "godparents are supposed to act as spiritual guides, show them the right way kinda thing you know". I didnt know that. I thought being a godmother is me willing and wanting to look after that someone special. Play the good cop, bad cop with the mumma. The one to sneak him some chocolate when mum's not looking. Be actively involved in their life and making sure they are alright, because he means the world to someone who means the world to me. Is that right? I know nothing about being a spiritual guide.

I spent the whole afternoon with Lucas yesterday. He was having nenen + almost fast asleep when i went over. But lis assured me his afternoon naps usually last about 20 minutes. So we decided to get some shut eye too before we head over to Jungle Gym with Mel. We dozed off with cheeky bom between us. True enough, he woke up half hour later and i caught him looking at me.

Mel and her toddlers, Lis and Lucas, and I headed to jungle gym with no expectations of the madness in store. There was a birthday party going on. There were laughter, screams, skippytoes, cries, Nellie the elephant, pigtails, parents with SLRs, and SLUSH!! I love slush. But yeah, i havent been around that many children for a while.

Anyways, Kaiyum wanted to play in the pen so i tagged along with the intention of watching over him. We started off with shooting foam balls, picking up balls and shooting more foam balls aimlessly. I think to myself, hey, this is not too bad....

Until kaiyum decided to explore the maze. I had to run after him like a duck! Body bent, head tilted, back.is.about.to.snap. And other children are running about with no guidance. It is built and made for children afterall, isnt it! Supposed to be accident-proof, no? After a good 20minutes, i managed to persuade Kaiyum that he needed a break, "Let's get a drink and have some chips, ok?" He smiled and nodded. Thank god.

O
h Alisa poopoo finally got her driving license last Saturday. Sadly, i'm not her 1st passenger, hmpf. And early at this stage, she's already discovered road rage in her. eek
How time flies. We first met when she was 11. And our first conversation went like this,
Poops: "Do you eat turtle eggs?"
Me: "No way! That's evil"
Poops: "Good. I dont too. But coco and mummy does"

I feel old.

Kids are starting to call me auntie instead of cheche.

Hello there, stranger

a thumb for comfort

What do you do when you're bored and tired, or merely seeking comfort? Shania, Lucas and all babies alike think you can try popping your thumb in your mouth and start *smacking-slurping-smacking* away. And if that's not enough, you can always add a finger or two. It's amazing how soothing and calming it is to a baby.
My cheeky godson
Thumb-sucking has always been a debatable question of good or bad. A lead author from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry says "Sucking is a natural reflex, which comforts infants and young children. Any recommendation to stop thumb, finger or pacifier sucking before a child is two years old would be unrealistic, potentially detrimental and unnecessary from a dental standpoint"

Pacifier or thumb?

You dont exactly want to pull over in the middle of a highway or bend over a zillion times whenever your child spits or tosses his dummy ,-1. He will always find his finger, +1.
However when teeth starts emerging, when the time has come to wean them off the delight, you can jolly well toss the pacifier in the bin +1, but you cant exactly hide or break his fingers eek -1.

So how do you break the habit then smarty-pants? Some how-tos here.

Anyways, here's a short story of Shania's and Lucas' 1st Chinese New Year.
Well , judging from the smiles and giggles, i reckon it has been a pretty good experience for both of them.biggrin
